Calcite Crystals on Matrix
Xianghualing Mine, Linwu County, Chanzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China
A gorgeous big, isolated Calcite crystal on matrix from the Xianghualing Mine, where it is rare to find a Calcite specimen without any associated Fluorite. This is one of the better examples from the locality in terms of quality, aesthetics, and crystal size. It is a large, compressed trigonal, colorless and very gemmy crystal measuring 6.6 cm across. and is beautifully perched on the underlying matrix. The crystal is pristine and there is even a second smaller “jewel” like crystal on the lower portion of the specimen.
